Trauma is our negative reaction to something that happened to us in our past. We then store it inside ourselves. It can be complicated due to having numerous layers liked a cursed lasagna. The longer we carry this trauma the more it twists and grows in us. It can fester and then ooze and come out and infect someone else. Trauma dumping is a term used when someone with unresolved trauma blows up and expresses their inner trauma at someone else. This can cause new trauma for the next person providing a criteria is present. A criteria like already having trauma inside, feelings of being unsafe, a young age and the closeness of the person trauma dumping on you.
Discussion: When we carry our trauma with us it’s almost impossible not to share it. We can try to hide it but that act of suppression of trauma creates an expression of trauma dumping onto someone else.
Meditation: Take a deep breath and exhale. Think of a relaxing sight like a stream. trees or a comfy chair. Tell yourself that for this time you are safe from any harm. Now go within and ask yourself when was the last time you either trauma dumped on someone else or your were the victim of trauma dumping. Whatever comes up is something that you need to heal.
Tips for the victim of trauma dumping. Having someone yell at you is no way to start a day or end an evening. First of all, are you safe? That is the most important because if not, you must leave the trauma dumper at once.
